First stop this day was to the Submarine Museum in Groton. We toured the USS Nautilus, one of the first nuclear powered subs. It was a tight fit inside the sub, especially for Jeff, whose head almost touched the ceiling. After the museum we had lunch at Mystic Pizza, site of Julia Robert's first movie. The pizza was pretty good. Next we walked through Mystic, a beautiful seaside town. Again, the weather was quite "pleasant." We toured Mystic Seaport, a historic sea village preserved from the late 1700s on. I was able to take many pictures to show my students. In fact, much of Connecticut provided me with great teaching tools (added bonus!). As was the theme for most of our trip, Nicholas would sleep in his stroller while we toured around. It actually worked out much better than I had anticipated.
