12 week ultrasound

Jeff and I had our first visit to the perinatologist this morning. We went to have our nuchal translucency ultrasound. This was done to check for some birth defects, like Down's Syndrome. The ultrasound showed that there was nothing to worry about in that arena. I still have to do a blood test tomorrow to rule out other abnormalities.

We also talked about the course of action for the pregnancy. It will pretty much follow suit with Lexi's pregnancy. Twice weekly non-stress tests at 32 weeks, delivering at 39 weeks, unless we have problems before then. I go in for our next major ultrasound at 16 weeks and they told us that we might be able to find out the gender at that appointment! That would be great because we're all getting anxious to find out...especially the big brother and sister! Enjoy two shots from today's ultrasound below.

Profile

Full body profile shot...the baby was kicking its legs and appeared to be sucking its thumb. Baby Daems measured in at 3 inches and was a bit bigger than my due date indicated (The baby was measuring 13 weeks, 1 day versus the 12 weeks, 4 days I technically am as of right now)
