We decided that it was time to sign Nicholas up for an organized activity. We really wanted him to try soccer again, but Nicholas was ADAMANT that he was NOT going to do soccer! I think we pushed him into trying it last year when he really wasn't ready and unfortunately it left a bad taste in his mouth. We toyed with the idea of signing him up for tee ball, but learning from the soccer experience, I was afraid of pushing him into something too soon and having him not enjoy it. So, we decided to hold off on tee ball until he's 5. So, what to sign Nicholas up for?
The answer is....gymnastics! This boy loves to roll around, jump off things, somersault, etc. so gymnastics seemed like the perfect fit. We enrolled him in our local parks and rec class for 5 weeks, which was basic tumbling. Then a friend of ours had her kids' birthday party at gymnastics center in Concord. Needless to say he had a blast at the party. That was it...we were sold! We enrolled Nicholas two weeks later. He's done two classes now and loves it. He enjoys the trampoline and foam pit the most, but also loves the rings. He tells me he wants to be a Jedi like Luke Skywalker and learn how to do flips and handstands.
There's no specific end date for gymnastics....if he likes it we'll keep going until he decides he wants to stop but for now we'll be making the weekly trip across the bridge for the boy to burn off some energy.
Here's some low quality videos from today's session. You can't take flash photos in the gym so you'll have to forgive how grainy these look.
