Jeff's 30th Birthday without the kids!
On Jeff's actual birthday, August 8th, my parents watched the kids overnight so we could go to San Francisco and celebrate. We stayed at our favorite hotel, the W, and spent the evening in North Beach. Jeff wanted to check out a Belgian restaurant and bar, called La Trappe. We were seated in an underground setting...dark and quiet. The beer menu was extensive...about 45 pages long and about 25 Belgian beers on tap. Jeff was in heaven! After dinner we went to the Rogue Alehouse where Jeff tasted another beer. We both were actually quite tired, so we headed back to the hotel and went to bed. We actually got about 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep, which was probably the best part of the whole experience! The following morning we started with a nice breakfast at the hotel and then headed up to the spa, where Jeff got a massage and I had a mani-pedi. We then headed home to Benicia, where we arrived to a quiet house for the next few hours. My parents returned with the kids and then made Jeff dinner...lamb, asparagus, and grilled root vegetables. We even ended the evening with Jeff's favorite dessert...a cheese platter!
