Little Stingrays

Swim season has started and both kids are now old enough for swim lessons.  Initially, the plan was to have Nicholas participate in the "pre-swim team" program and Lexi do regular parks and rec intro swim lessons.  But, on day one of Little Stingrays, it looked like there was another 3 year old in the water with the coaches, so Jeff asked if Lexi would be able to participate with Nicholas on the pre-swim team too.  Their website says that kids have to be 4 and water safe already (neither of which Lexi is currently), but they said she could join up.  So, we cancelled park and rec classes and have them both swimming together Monday-Thursday afternoons for the next 6 weeks.  This definitely makes it easier on me, as I was going to have to head down to the pool two times a day for different swim lessons, and it's also more fun for Lexi to swim with her brother.

Nicholas did Little Stingrays last year and has made many improvements already since last year.  He is motoring across the pool with his kicking on the kick board.  With Lexi they worked on floating, blowing bubbles, and kicking with the kick board.  The great thing about this program is that the kids have one-on-one coaching the whole time, so they can work at their own pace.

It should be a fun swim season...hoping Nicholas can master swimming by the end of summer!

Streamline kicking to Coach Kristi

Ready to go with her new kick board and hot pink goggles.  She was SUPER excited for her first day!

Practicing kicking with Kelsi, my friend's younger sister.  Lexi jumped in no problem and loved every single second of swimming.  When she cam out she ran over to me and said, "That was so much fun Mom!"

As usual, Nicholas was a bit tentative about starting the new season of swimming, but as you can see from the photo, he was having fun and doing a great job!

Every time they would pass each other they would high five!  Gotta love it!
