Yom Kippur

Since we no longer belong to a synagogue, our family has decided to spend Yom Kippur each year amongst nature. This gives us a chance to reflect on the past year without interruption or distraction. Last year we went to Bodega Bay, but this year we stayed a bit closer to home and took a nature walk at the Ohlone State Park in Sunol. The weather was perfect and the kids enjoyed being able to run free and explore. It was also nice because Auntie Becca was home visiting and was able to join us.

There were 2 of these bridges along the trail that made Nicholas a bit nervous

Look what we found on the trail! Eek!

Beautiful views

The first leg was all uphill...Nicholas needed a bit of motivation to keep going

Stopping at the turnaround for a snack and to collect sticks

Nicholas was quite proud of his big stick

The decent

Stopping to look at the baby acorns

When we were almost to the end of the trail we spotted a grazing cow

And the baby calf
