My 29th Birthday

Thursday was my inaugural 29th birthday (as my dad joked!). My dad was kind enough to take the day off to spend time with the kids and myself, so we took advantage of the sunny day to get out of the house. Nicholas has been begging me to go to the Nut Tree in Vacaville. The Nut Tree used to be a small child's amusement park with an open air mall around it, but the amusement park part shut down. Fortunately, they took a few elements of the park and stuck them in the middle of the mall parking lot. There is a train, a carousel, and some ride on toys...more then enough to keep Nicholas and Lexi happy. So we played a little and then went to Fenton's for lunch and milkshakes. Dad also made dinner, so I wouldn't have to deal with that for a night. We enjoyed some yummy blue cheese and caramelized onion hamburgers! After dinner Nicholas surprised me with my very own ice cream cake. It was then present time and then off to bed for the little ones. :)

These rescue vehicles used to be a ride that went around on a track. They bolted them down now so the kids can play in them. This was Nicholas' favorite part of the day!

So happy to finally ride the vehicles!

Nicholas wanted to put his shoes on...a didn't notice they were on the wrong feet until 2 hours into the trip!

Would you want them to rescue you?

It is never too early to learn how to play chess!

Lexi loves carousels already

Nicholas did not want me to take his picture on the tiger...sorry buddy!

Giant rocking horses

How'd you get up there, Noodle?

Nicholas kept saying "I'm in a nut tree!"
