Fourth of July

The morning of the Fourth started out great...Jeff let me sleep in until 8:30 and proceeded to make waffles and bacon, while tending to the 2 kids! What did I do to deserve that?

Around lunch time, we took Nicholas to the city park. They have music, kids activities, craft booths, etc. set up for the holiday. Nicholas had fun bouncing in an Elmo bounce house and going down an huge inflatable slide (see the video below).

After nap time, we headed over to Nicholas' best friend's house. Aislyn, Tim, and Julie hosted us for a BBQ. The kids had fun playing and the adults had fun socializing. As it began to get darker, we bundled the kids up and headed to the house of one of my parent's friends. They have an awesome backyard up on hill. It overlooks the waterfront, so it was perfect for viewing fireworks without having to sit in the traffic jam to get downtown by the water. Unfortunately, it felt more like February outside than July...it was freezing and windy. My mom sat inside with Lexi, while Nicholas, Jeff, my dad, and myself braved the wind to watch the fireworks. Nicholas had never seen fireworks before, so he was quite amazed by them...at first. After about 2 minutes the novelty had worn off, and the fatigue had set in. He was quite punchy.

We all had a great holiday weekend and are now looking forward to our upcoming trip with the Daems family.

You can tell it's cold when you have to wear hoods and blankets in July!
