June 9th-10th

On Saturday my cousin Abby graduated from high school. Nicholas stayed home with Daddy while I attended the ceremony. Afterwards we all went to Abby's party. We all had a nice time, although Nicholas seemed slightly overwhelmed at first. He was asleep when we arrived, and woke up to many adoring fans. His lower lip quivered when he saw all the new faces and then he started to wail. After a while, he was fine. Jeff was a stand up dad and kindly took Nicholas home early so I could stay at the party a while longer and enjoy myself.

On Sunday we went to Discovery Bay to visit Jeff's cousins Laura and Jon, as well as Aunt Linda and Uncle Dale (who were visiting from Minnesota). We all got to meet baby Caleb as well, who was very cute! Again, Nicholas did a great job without a regular nap. We strolled him around the block briefly and he slept through lunch (bonus for us!). It was amazing to see the difference between Nicholas and Caleb at this point (5 months). Although they will be in the same grade when they are older, at this point in their lives there is such a big gap between them (see below).

Caleb Charles (3 weeks)

Nicholas Patrick (5 months)

This was the first of a few busy weekends to come. Nicholas held up fairly well though. Perhaps this was our way of getting him prepped for his weekend in Tahoe and his upcoming trip to NYC.

Added bonus for me: Nicholas had started to "nuzzle" me. When he's sleepy he rests his face in my neck or chest. It's such a nice feeling! :-)

Nicholas looks so much like Jeff in this picture!
