Last week was a special week at school for both Nicholas and Lexi. Lexi was the V.I.P. at preschool and Nicholas was the Star of the Week in Kindergarten.
For Lexi, we created a poster board all about her with pictures. When you're the V.I.P. at Happy Hearts, you get to ring the bell for recess, sit at the front of the room with the teachers during circle time, and stand in the front of the line. On Friday you give "pass out treats" to your friends. Lexi chose to make goodie bags filled with a pencil, pencil sharpener, temporary tattoos, and bunny cracker snacks for each child. She was very excited because she was the first V.I.P. of the school year.
Coincidentally, Nicholas was picked as Star of the Week the same week. Needless to say, it was busy for me to get everything together for both of them. On Monday Ms. Parker made a poster about Nicholas, wherein his classmates helped write what they like about Nicholas. On Tuesday he was able to share photos of his family to post near his poster. Wednesday and Thursday were sharing days. He had to bring in his favorite stuffed animal or blanket on Wednesday and he chose to bring in his quilt that Grandma made him. Nicholas said Ms. Parker wrapped him in the blanket and sang "Rock A Bye Baby" to him since Nicholas said Grandma made the quilt for him when he was a baby. He thought that was pretty funny. :) On Thursday he brought in his favorite book for Ms. Parker to read. He really wanted to bring in The Lorax, but that was too long, so he chose Green Eggs and Ham. Friday culminated his duty as Star of the Week with a trip to the treasure box.
Both kids did indeed feel very important and special that week! Below are some pictures of their posters.
