Birthday Party

Nicholas had his birthday party this past Saturday afternoon. Including Nicholas there were 16 boys...and one little princess. Nicholas decided that this year he just wanted to have boys at his party, since he really wanted to do a Star Wars theme and rationalized that the girls wouldn't like Star Wars. I figured, he knows so many kids that we were going to have to shorten down his list of 40 kids somehow, so having boys only made that a bit easier. Besides, 17 was still a lot of kids.

He chose to have his party at their gymnastics studio. We told the gym that we were doing a Star Wars theme and they had Star Wars music ready to go in the gym and themed the activities ...like Jedi tag, etc. One of the coaches even chased them around with a light saber. It was cute. Those boys had a blast running, jumping and rope swinging into the foam pit, and swinging by the rings. After an hour of playtime we headed upstairs for cake and ice cream, as well as present opening. Nicholas was spoiled by all of his friends. After the party we went to dinner at Benihana's with Nana and Baba, and then we officially called Nicholas' 5th birthday over.

He had a great time turning 5 this year...the first year that he really seemed proud to become older and excited by the prospect of his birthday. He was very sweet about all the fun things we did for him and very appreciative, which was nice to see. Happy birthday sweet boy!

Ready to party!

Unfortunately, most of my pictures came out grainy. Between the horrible lighting at the gym and the fact that the boys were in constant motion, the pictures aren't great. :( But here are a few of the "clearer" ones....Nicholas and Mason during Jedi tag

The awesome Star Wars lego cake our good friend Nicolene made for Nicholas. It looked great and tasted just as good!

Nicholas thought the cake pretty much rocked!
