What a Weekend!

First off, let me say, this weekend was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and a complete tease! We're talking temperatures in the Bay Area in the high '70s...that's right, high '70's in early February! Unheard of! We wore shorts and flip flops all weekend and it was such a treat. The only problem is that we all want this weather to stay, and, alas, we know it won't. Soon enough I suppose...and I guess we can always use a bit more rain around these parts.

I had to mention the gorgeous weather first to downplay the chaos of Saturday. I had BIG plans on Saturday to tackle a bunch of house cleaning (thrilling, I know), but those plans came to a screeching halt when Lexi accidentally slipped while showering with Jeff. Of course hysteric crying ensued and at first, we thought she had bit her tongue, since there was blood in her mouth. But, after further inspection, we saw that her front top right tooth looked like it had been knocked out. I immediately called the pediatric dentist and we rushed her in. After having to take x-rays with Daddy (which was a super unpleasant experience for all of us), they found out that she had not knocked her tooth out, but rather knocked it up into her gum line! Ouch! The treatment is really no treatment at all. 90-95% of the time the teeth descend on their own in 4-6 months. So Lexi will have monthly dentist appointments for a while to check the tooth's progress. If the tooth doesn't descend, they will have to pull it out. Unfortunately, they can't do anything about putting in a false tooth until Lexi's about 4 years old, as it could impede the development of her bite and growth of the other teeth. Hopefully the tooth will descend on its own and we won't have to worry about that though.

To add insult to injury, the dentist said that Lexi should stop using her binky because it might prevent the tooth from descending. We had been planning on taking her binky away in the near future, but weren't quite ready yet. Lexi only uses it at nap time and at night, so we (okay...really only me) wasn't thrilled about losing it yet. But, nothing like doctor's orders to give you the push to take the binky removal plunge! So far she's been without the binky for 2 nights. The first night she only fussed for about 5 minutes. Last night she protested for almost 20 minutes. Who knows what tonight will bring, although she went to down for today's nap with almost no protesting, so I suppose that's a good sign.

Lots of action for Miss Lexi this weekend and stressful for Mom and Dad. Although, if you're going to deal with all of that, at least you get nice weather as a trade off!
