This and That

Okay, I told you I'm not always timely with my blog posts, so if you're still around and checking in, here's what we've been up to the past few weeks:

Lafayette Reservoir

Two weekends ago the Bay had a fabulously mild late-January day, so we thought it would be nice to get the kids outside and active. Jeff and I had heard about the Lafayette Reservoir and thought that it would be a perfect day to check it out. There is a paved path around the reservoir that's a little over 2.5 miles long, so we took the double jogger and enjoyed a nice walk and views. Towards the end of the loop there was a great playground and picnic tables, so the kids got to run off some energy. Afterward we went into downtown Lafayette for some ice cream. A low key Saturday indeed!

Chuck E. Cheese with the Frigards

We met up with some of our favorite girls for an outing to Chuck E. Cheese last week. Ava (almost 4) had remembered going to Chuck E. Cheese for N's birthday last year and had been begging her mom to return. Of course, my kids loved the idea of going too. It was great because Aneka (almost 2) and Lexi were able to actually play this time, although Lexi's idea of "playing" was simply putting tokens into the machines and then walking away.

This is a motion simulator ride that projects the riders face on the outside for you to see their reaction. Lexi's was priceless!

She absolutely loved this ride!

Nicholas goes to Hawaii

Ok, you didn't really think he went to Hawaii? He did though in his imagination. His preschool does an imaginary field trip every year. This year's destination was the Aloha state. The kids have been learning about Hawaii all last week, and N has been my resident volcano enthusiast! The school was decked out to the nines with Hawaii-ness! Literally, almost every inch of the school was covered with decorations. It was really awesome! The kids each got to bring a suitcase to school with three things to bring on their vacation. Lexi and I toured the building before the preschoolers got to see it and I think Lexi would have stayed all day had I let her! Below are some shots of the decor:

This is the "circle" room where they normally do story time, etc. They cleared the entire room out and loaded it was sand and a pool of water against the wall. It was so cool!
